In this course students will learn what it means to be alive from a scientific perspective. Beginning with the study of life at the cellular level and continuing on to larger structures, such as organ systems, students will gain a deeper understanding of how organisms sustain life in a variety of environments. Students will also learn how organisms create new life and how traits are passed down from organisms to their offspring. Finally, students will learn how all forms of life relate to one another in the evolutionary classification of organisms.
